Care, so it lasts.
A few easy habits keep your jewelry brilliant and safe for years. Here's how to care for pieces at home — and when to bring them in to us.
Clean at home
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush do wonders. Rinse and dry well. Avoid harsh chemicals.
When to take it off
Take jewelry off for swimming, cleaning, heavy work and sleep — a prong that catches costs less than the stone inside.
Regular checks
An annual professional inspection catches loose stones and worn prongs before they become a problem.
Store it properly
Keep pieces separate (they scratch each other), in a lined box or pouch, out of direct sun.
A few more pointers
- Diamonds scratch other stones — store them separately
- Pearls are soft: put them on after lotion and perfume, and wipe gently after wear
- Avoid chlorine and bleach around gold — they can damage the metal
- Ultrasonic cleaners aren't right for every piece (pearls, some set types) — ask us
- Insure your fine pieces and keep appraisals current
We'll clean it properly.
Our professional cleaning goes well beyond what a cloth can do — and while it's here we'll inspect the settings, too. For many of our pieces, routine cleaning is complimentary [VERIFY]. Ask when you're in.
